Our Story
Eclectic House is an independently owned concept store in the heart of Inverell, NSW.
We are a small country store with a big global conscience. We are ambassadors for the slow fashion movement. We value the ethical and sustainable production of clothing and offer our own considered collection and other Australian labels.
Our story: The staff are a diverse and dynamic group of ladies. We are different in age, shape, size and background - that’s why it works! It’s also not unusual to have our shop babies and kids “helping” in store.
Our diversity means we hear you and we understand! A one size fits all approach should go the way of the dinosaurs. Born from the frustration of many labels only running to a size 14 (which is often more like a modern Aus. size 10) we took matters into our own hands. We now design and produce our own label, Somebody’s Story. It’s a slow fashion range of beautiful, classic garments with a broad appeal.
Our new collection has been designed and made for every one of you. With a focus on natural fibres (including Australian cotton and Italian linen) we have hand selected every single piece of fabric with the Australian summer in mind.
Our garments are all hand cut and sewn in a village in East Java, Indonesia. We provide meaningful, fair trade work for two families. As the drought intensifies and sales dwindle here, work slows for them too. To counter the downturn, we have funded a micro project. A village chook farm will provide them with another income stream to sustain them through our quiet times.
Eclectic House is also home to Empire of Bees - our leather range. The inspiration for the brand came from the desire to create quality, handmade goods in an industry that was all but overrun by fast fashion. Just like Somebody’s Story, our aim is to make sustainable, quality pieces that last a lifetime - not just a season. Visit our full range of leather goods on our website: empireofbees.com.au
